Old Timer

Nikon D70 @ 18mm, 1/100 sec, f/5, ISO 200

It was just one of those days today. The weather was very overcast and miserable, but I went for a drive up to the Trossachs area anyway. I thought I'd stop by the Lake of Menteith to see if I could get a shot of the pier, but it wasn't as nice as I remembered. So I drove further down the lake, and spotted this interesting tree. It's roots had made an interesting pattern in the mossy earth beneath it on the other side of this picture, but on further inspection I found this view to be the most interesting.

You know, I myself like overcast days sometimes. Depends on the scene/area. But I like to take photos of the same place during various lighting situations. I love clouds but then the same scene will evoke such a different feeling or emotion in another light. I like this view. Thanks for sharing

Thanks a lot for your thoughts. Definitely agree - it's all about the light. Cheers.

Wonderful shot! Reminded me immediately of a scene in the Lord of the Rings movies (I'm a big fan) ...here's a screencap from the scene...similar tree/lighting.

You are quite talented, John! Good luck in your law career...what a blessing to have your fine photographic skills as a hobby!
