Edinburgh Lights

Nikon D70 @ 62mm, 1 sec, f/4.5, ISO 200
Previous · Current · Next

Edit: I'm still alive, but just very busy! I'll try and update the site as soon as possible (29/11/05).

Taken on the same expedition as my last post, but a little further down the street. I took a lot of pictures of this scene, trying to get the traffic right. I originally thought that I would chose a frame with minimal traffic so that it didn't intrude much on the rest of the scene, but I quite like the effect the bus produced.

I didn't realise til I came home that the big wheel couldn't have been working as there's no blur in any of the photos I took. I wonder what it would look like with some motion on the wheel...

Your comments are very much appreciated on this shot.

The light trail from the bus (?) on the right really makes this shot for me. You've made it look so bustling and bright. Great shot John! :)

I really like this one John! Actually you've posted some great stuff lately, but I never got round to commenting. I love the blurred bus in this one, but it doesn't bother me that the wheel isn't moving... I like the contrast between the moving bus and the stationary wheel. Also, I love the similarity of the colours on the bus and the wheel. The only thing I don't like is the traffic light! If you have a nearly identical frame taken when the light was green you could use the top part of the traffic light from that frame to fix it... then again that might look weird though!

I really like the bus- it creates a perfect effect for the rest of the lights. Do you have any other shots with streaming car lights in the bottom left of the picture? Perhaps it would create a nice balance to include it.

Although I very much like it the way it is. :)

This really is a fantastic shot. I think the wheel not being on worked out perfectly, with a good static lights against the blurred lights of the cars and bus.
